Who’s who at Fishponds Baptist Church
Revd Richard Pollard (Team Leader)
Richard joined Fishponds Baptist as Senior Minister in 2012. He trained at Spurgeon’s Theological College in 2001, and has led churches in London, Sheffield and Leeds. He’s passionate about seeing all people enter into the freedom and fullness of life that Jesus offers, and seeing FBC equipped to be a blessing to our community, city and the nations. He’s married to Nikki and they have two sons.
Katie James (Minister in Training)
Katie is the minister in training at Fishponds Baptist Church. She trains at Bristol Baptist College two days a week and the rest of her time is dedicated to life at FBC. Her passion lies in communicating God’s love to anyone who will listen and loves preaching. She is usually spotted roaming around with a cup of tea in hand and is always up for a friendly chat.
Radi Vasileva (Families Worker)
My name is Radostina, which means ‘joy’, but if it’s difficult to pronounce it, you can call me Radi! I’m from Bulgaria and moved to Bristol with my family in 2018. I’m married and have 2 wonderful kids- a girl and a boy.
Aaron Beale (Youth Worker)
My name is Aaron, I'm married to Natalie and we have two children. We moved to Bristol in 2014 and love it here. I have 7 years' experience in youth work and 3 in church leadership. I have a degree in Applied Theology (Youth & Community Work). My passion is making Jesus known in a real down to earth way that people can understand.
Whilst studying at Bristol Baptist College, Abbie felt a strong sense of calling to community ministry and was delighted to join FBC’s Hope43 community housing team. She is passionate about community development and is especially motivated to see the excluded, included. She loves nothing more than seeing lives changed by practical and caring faith in action.
Abbie is thankful for the support of her husband Malcolm and four children, Samuel, Lydia, Annabelle & Matthew.
Even when I fail God still loves me!
I coordinate collection of food donations to give out to our local, vulnerable people who've fallen on hard times. However, it's not all about food!
A warm welcome, to be treated with respect, dignity and compassion is a must for our guests. They are our priority.
I'm immensely proud of my two teams who use their amazing talents, time and abilities to help others and change lives.
My name is Rachel and I am married with 3 children. I am a qualified nurse but have been a full time mum for many years. I have been coming to FBC for 28 years! I love to hang out with friends, walk the dog and love holidays with the family!
I thoroughly enjoy helping out at church with Foodbank and recently have started leading the ladies hub.

Nikki Pollard (Prayer & Community)
I’m Nikki, I’m married to Richard and have 2 fantastic sons and a crazy dog. I love nature, music, travel (when I get the opportunity), coffee and cake (eating, NOT baking!). I love seeing (and experiencing!) lives being transformed and renewed.
Elvyn Jones (Care Team Coordinator)
I am a retired minister who led a church in West London. My wife and I moved to Bristol just over four years ago and I feel very fulfilled to lead the Pastoral Care Team at FBC ministering to some great people who love the Lord Jesus.
